the waters off the shores of the Barony of Erris, the
sea-angler is rewarded with the best all-round sea

Blacksod Bay offers good fishing
for tope, monkfish, ray, spurdog, bullhuss, conger, pollack,
mackerel, scad and occasional common skate while, further
out to sea, towards Achill Head, halibut, blue shark and
porbeagle shark have been recorded. Broadhaven Bay has top
class fishing for ray, turbot, tope, whiting, gurnard and
occasional monkfish. The Achill Island area offers excellent
deep sea fishing and the Irish records for both porbeagle
shark (365 lbs) and blue shark (256 lbs) are held there.
Also available around the Achill area are pollack, mackerel,
cod, flounder, turbot, dogfish, coalfish, ray and dabs |
